Role Responsibilities​

Play an active role in collaboration with the organisation’s senior leadership team to build secure support for and share a strategic digital and technology vision, setting out the function’s role in effecting positive change and underpinning the delivery of the organisational goals.

Leadership of CGL’s digital and technology teams, developing effective workforce strategies and creative, collaborative and inclusive ways of working that achieve high performance across the service.

Set and lead the delivery of CGL’s digital and technology strategies, translating the vision into a realistic 1-3 year service plan and technology roadmap.

Responsibility for our in-house software development programme that drives our core operational system

Scan the environment to ensure service areas can respond effectively to external changes and opportunities. Plus maintain a watching brief over relevant emerging technologies and innovative new ways of working, introducing relevant new approaches as appropriate in support of the organisational plan and efficiency targets.

Build and lead a high performing team of digital, IT and technology professionals.

Promote culture of collaboration, innovation and continuous improvement within the team.

Lead the collaboration with the Change and Transformation team to ensure effective change management and digital adoption.

Lead the delivery of all technology related programmes including overseeing the core IT programme, our cloud-based activities, digital engagement and new service implementations.

Ensure effective IT information governance and cyber security strategies are in line with applicable standards (currently ISO27001), ensuring that IT systems, infrastructure and stored data are secure against internal and external threats, and position effective and appropriate measures for risk management.

Preparation of business proposals, considering the benefits, costs, implications for hardware, software, systems and staff and the impact on users and, when necessary, prepare papers for ELT, Audit and Finance Committee and Board.

Manage the operational costs of the IT department, including the preparation, submission and monitoring of the departmental budget.

Support the completion of tender documents, providing a costed technical proposal that assists in creating a strong Service User experience.

Implementation and testing of IT business continuity to support the organisation’s business continuity plans.

Oversee negotiation and administration of vendor, outsourced suppliers and consultant service agreements and contracts in line with strategic aims and financial constraints.
